Hey ladies,
I did it. Finished the 20k of Brussels (to be exact 20.6km) in 2:21. I ran/jogged the whole time. Didn't walk once! Hubby who ran too, wanted to keep a pace of 7min/km and although I found it a little slow, it sure made the run easy, relaxing and fun!
I "hit the wall" around km 18, quite unexpected, I just met a colleague (the one who introduced me to running 7 years ago) who was standing next to the parcours, he ran about 1/2km with us, we laughed, talked a little and after he returned to his bike, SLAM, legs felt like 1000kg... I kept the same pace, focussing, Ralph gave me some grapesugar, I drank a multivitamin sugary drink my colleague gave me and felt better (luckily) after 5 minutes. Although this happened on the much dreaded last hill, I didn't slow down, walking wasn't an option.
Going over the hill and running those last km was fun, people cheering, big smile on my face, I even could increase my speed...
I posted some pics I took during running on my FB page.
Immediately after finishing I already felt sorry that it was over... Three months of training, and that was it...
So this morning I registered for a half marathon on the 10th October
I sooooo want to run a marathon in 2011, but I will have to run for 4.40min if I have this pace.... Berlin seems a nice one, with a lot of people running for "fun". I don't want to be in one with little people and all "real" runners. Part of the fun is always being with a lot of people, also "slow" joggers like me.
Steffi: maybe you know more about this marathon. I know it's very beautiful. Wanna keep me company BTW??? That would be a Getting2Gether
So training starts July 15th. In meantime I wanna shed some more pounds/kg. Adding some weightlifting to my training schedule. Thursday I will put on my runningshoes again for a slow recovery run. Tomorrow recovery at swim training.
Exercise is great!!!!
Kim: hope you are feeling ok. Not only sad but also thankful and proud.... I can only imagine how difficult it is, losing a child...
Strange, I always think Memorial Day is in autumn... Don't know why... I always get pictures in my head of apples, beautiful coloured trees....
So, better get back to work,
Hugs,
Kath
