Hi everyone,

I hope your day went well. Work was busy but I'm so grateful that I went to work with a plan of attack. I couldn't get everything on my list done but I made a significant dent on today's "to do" list and I've got the paperwork and figures ready for tomorrow's meeting. I also saw all the staff except one who I needed to complete workshop proposals - that was a real relief and I'll see the last person tomorrow morning early. I've got most of the numbers in for food quotes for the conference in February. I finished up various other urgent jobs for people and set up appointments for next week and the week after. I feel like things are a little better under control which is way better than I felt last night when I thought things were spiraling helplessly out of control. I went to the grocery store and bought food for tomorrow's meeting morning and afternoon coffee. Foolishly I have to take my car to the dealership for servicing tomorrow morning, pick up a loaner, meet with the last teacher re a workshop and go and help a secretary before my meeting begins tomorrow. Cripes! I'd better make another list or I'll go out the door tomorrow and forget my netbook at the house and tomorrow is recycling and garbage day. Oh joy!

I got to the restaurant today and realized that I had forgotten to phone about the panini (we had pre-ordered to speed things up) but it turned out okay. This is a high-end restaurant and my sandwich wasn't greasy at all. It had a reasonable amount of mozzarella, onions and peppers and although the outside of the sandwich had been buttered before it was pressed and cooked it wasn't greasy. Another pleasant surprise, it wasn't over-sized. The salad and the side dressing was good too. But, I decided to skip the tuna salad pita pocket because there is low fat mayo in the tuna and I wanted to play it safe - I had the last baked chicken breast in a whole wheat sandwich and then yogurt for dessert. I'm not having enough veggies today but I'm feeling pretty good about surviving another restaurant meal. Of course tomorrow's lunch will be another challenge.

I just have one rather indelicate question. Since Sunday I've been eating roasted veggies which had olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar and some herbs, etc. and for the last couple of days I ate tuna and a lot of veggies in a Pita and the problem is that I've never had so much gas in my life. I actually had gas pains and believe me it was not pleasant. I didn't dare switch my heavier meal to lunch (which I would usually do with leftovers) because the gas would be a problem all evening, all night and I'd still be tooting the next morning on my walk. Is this because of the quantity of veggies, because of the type of veggies, a symptom of roasting them with Olive Oil and Vinegar? It's not the tuna pita because I had the problem before I began eating them. Baked chicken breasts have never had that affect before. I just don't get it and I'd like to roast veggies again but I'd sure like to avoid this problem. Phew!

Hi Julie, It's great that you're enjoying your Bible Study class so much. I think you might be surprised if you start a healthy trend - others may just appreciate that and follow your lead and example. Good for you for holding on to your resolve. Go Julie! You're right, I'm a real outside walker. I got lucky again this morning and walked early. The sleet and rain started before I left for work and it kept it up all day. I'm hoping that tomorrow it'll be okay when I want to walk but the winds are supposed to be atrocious tomorrow. An active vacation sounds wonderful and so great for the whole family both health wise and for pure fun together.

Hi Karrie, I'm glad you had a nice time out yesterday and a visit today with your dad today. I'm sorry that he's having memory problems, that can be tough. I have a friend who's mom had Alzheimer's. The funny thing was that she participated in an activity program for seniors every weekday and they often played games, etc. and had prizes. When she was brought back home she'd suddenly discover the "prize" in her purse and it would be entirely new to her again - a surprise "gift " every time she came across it. She was a really pleasant woman to visit with. I'm sorry that your work crew isn't ready to get started yet, let's hope they recover, or whatever, soon. I'm sorry that you're feeling so overcome by emotions right now. But better tears than bingeing. I think that tears can be a real relief for emotional stress. Unfortunately I'm one of those people who just can hardly ever cry; I just get quieter and stiffer until I start to feel like I'm made out of stone and my head starts to feel like it might explode. I'm hoping that exercise which gets me moving physically might help loosen up the stress a little; it would be great to burn some off and that's where getting outside really helps me too.

Hi Boston, I need to hear that you're okay. Fingers crossed. image

Well, I'd better make a "to do" list for tomorrow and get the garbage and recyclables ready to carry out in the morning. I'd normally take them out in the evening but it's pouring out there which wouldn't be nice for the guys picking them up tomorrow morning. Anything I can do to help make the morning less hectic will be a big help when in comes to feeling in control and making the day go right tomorrow. Have a super evening.

We CAN do this!

Cheryl
