honestly I dont think 8 minutes will do much for people who have already been exercising a long time and are familiar with it but if you have never done anything or are not familiar with weights than it should give you a metabolism boost first thing in the morning and also as you said 8 minutes its sure better than nothing but I doubt that this is very efficient in the long run...
Also weights without cardio sounds not really appealing to me because weights might build up muscles and make you stronger but they dont train your heart and that doesnt neccesarily make you healthier.
You also shouldnt do weights every day as your muscles need a day break to relax and re-build.

Thats just my opinnion but if you try it please let us know how it went. OK :)
