I would define a binge as uncontrolled eating. So, for me...a measured bowl of chips, where I KNOW what I'm doing...this is fine...eating the whole bag...this is a binge.

A bag of cookies, or an uncontrolled amount. A mountain of icecream vs a planned portion.

Also, if you plan, and allow yourself a bag of chips, knowing what you're doing, planning for it, and allowing it...willing to write it down...this is not a binge.

Binging for me can mean eating a bag of cookies..or just 5..if I've not planned for it, and am eating them out of control. Usually, it's an emotional thing.

This is why individually-wrapped things work well for me. I'm less likely to binge if I'm unwrapping things. It emphasized the "shame" factor for me, and gives me time to really know what I'm doing. You can hide the fact that you've eaten a bag of chips, because it's just one bag to throw away. It's different when it's 24 single-serving bags!
