Kim & Kelly (hpylaffingirl) --

Do the schools where you live allow the kids to have "abnormal" hair color like real red, blue, pink, etc? The school district is super strict here. Here if a kid goes to school with "abnormal" colors, piercings, tatoos, spiked hair, etc. they are immediately sent home & suspended for 7 days and cannot come back until they are "normalized". Even the ruby-red auburn color (like what Sharon Osbourne wore on The Osbournes) is looked down upon. Hair is not allowed to be worn down over the eyes, either. The boys are not even allowed to have their ears pierced; only girls. Girls are only allowed to have 2 earrings per ear and must take them out if there are more than 2. They also don't allow any studded jewelry, wallets w/chains, sagging, trenchcoats, hats/tobaggans, etc. They also don't allow most of the message t-shirts that kids like to wear these days. If it is not "deemed appropriate" then they have to wear their shirt inside out or be sent home with an unexcused absence for the day.

I can see in some ways that there are safety issues (i.e. trenchcoats, chains, etc.), but in other ways, I think they are overboard strict. Like they only want these perfect cookie-cutter kids. Quite frankly, I am shocked that they haven't gone to making them wear uniforms. :rolleyes
